Joel Kupiainen Shoegaze in Finland has always been quite marginal, although the genre is having a new resurgence at the time of writing. That said, Tähtien suojatit Maan povella might be the best album to surface from the new wave of local bands.

The songwriting and execution is flawless. Gentle ambient passages give way to fuzz guitar crash and burn. The starry-eyed optimism of the lyrics is breathtaking. A minor classic to say the least. Favorite track: Polte.
